Haha @shamus mate! Lucky I didn't have hair to start with! It's tough to keep off the pounds! I'm always happy to see you on here. I hope you are well.

I'm still in HK but planning to be back in Oz in the mid term. I just had a daughter, Matilda. So that's been fun. Luckily she is an easy mode baby (so far) but the experience makes me think about family and footy a lot more deeply. Mainly reenforcing its importance. And how I'd like it to be a more enjoyable experience (Winning would change everything!)

I'm back on deck after the super typhoon over here (All good, HK is well designed for it) then got a bit sick but I'm good now.

Just got off the phone talking to old Greg aka @Mr Whippy. Caught up on footy talk and ideas for the new year.
 
Gorgeous conditions here on the Coast, so much so that me and the boys have been drinking since 10am (having a young-ish liver definitely helps). And honestly, what better time to write than during ad breaks on Channel 9 or while waiting for my turn in a drinking game?

For me personally, I’ve been a fan since the Titans went from concept to reality. I wasn’t even four yet (do the math, probably make a fair few of you feel old), but I knew the blue club was to be my club (kid mindset). Funnily enough, my first two core memories of the club are the team’s introduction at the 2006 Grand Final and our first official game against the Dragons. I come from a family of St George and Canberra supporters, so you can imagine little ol’ me trying to stir the pot when that first game against the Dragons rolled around. Now, almost twenty years later, here we are, still standing, still believing, still Titans.

I only joined the forum in January 2023, very late to the party, I know, but it’s not a party I regret showing up late for. I’ve always been a bit of a reserved person, especially when it comes to supporting the Titans. Most of my mates back clubs with more premierships, bigger crowds, and bigger profiles. Sometimes it can feel isolating being the only one flying and fighting for the flag. But finding this forum changed that completely. Suddenly, I wasn’t the only one staying up after a loss to scroll through thoughts, analyses, and that trademark Titans ✨optimism✨ for next week.

There’s something incredibly grounding about being surrounded (even virtually) by people who get it; who understand what this club means beyond the wins and losses. That shared loyalty, humour, and hope is what makes being a Titan special. We might not always have the easy road, but damn if we don’t have heart.

It isn’t just about rugby league, it’s about shared belief. It’s about that unspoken understanding between fans who’ve seen it all and still turn up every week with the same passion and hope. You can feel the care in the discussions, the humour in the banter, and the loyalty that underpins every post. The Titans have always been a club that fights for its place and the same could be said for the fans who’ve built and sustained this community for 20 years. It’s a reflection of the club’s heart; determined, passionate, and proud.

What’s stood out to me most is how inclusive and genuine the forum feels. You don’t have to have been here since day one to feel part of it. Whether you’ve followed the club since its inaugural season or just discovered your passion recently, there’s a place for everyone here. That sense of belonging is rare in the sporting world, and it’s what keeps people coming back. It’s proof that the Titans’ identity extends beyond the field. It’s alive in every supporter who takes the time to connect, share, and celebrate.

To every long-time member who’s helped shape this community and to every new fan still finding their voice, thank you. The Titans have had their share of ups and downs, but through it all, one thing has remained constant - the strength of the people behind them. Here’s to the next 20 years of cheering, debating, and believing, because that’s what being a Titans fan is all about.

Hope everyone has a blessed off-season, and let’s use it to reset, recharge, and remember why we love this club in the first place. Whether you’re watching old highlights, following every bit of recruitment news, or just counting down the days ‘til our first game the passion never really fades. It just simmers, waiting for kickoff. Here’s to coming back next season louder, prouder, and ready for whatever chaos the club throws our way.

I just switched over the main URL for LoT to http://www.thelot.live

I also redirected http://www.leagueoftitans.com.au and http://www.titansupporters.com to here as well.

I hope it has worked out smoothly. It may take some hours for all the domains to work correctly. I'll keep checking on it.

I wanted a snappy URL we can use on socials and using the new .live address seemed appreciate considering we are glued to live sport and updates.

More things to come.

Thanks @indoallstars ! Life is like footy and we thrive off encouragement.

I think there is a good place in the world for League of Titans. We may not be a flood of users that flash by with short, often one word comments. Or acres of comments just tagging a friend. But I find myself retreating from social media due to the toxic nature, the click bait, the nasty attitudes because we are all numbers, the multi-billion dollar corporations making us the product. Not to mention the gen a.i. slop which even includes fake users. I just come out feeling worse off.

I grew up with chat rooms in the 90s which were just so magical to me. I loved logging in and talking to people from around the world. I feel we were so much more interested in getting to know each other then. And I always loved forums too. And I'm saddened to see most of the ones I was a part of disappear (rleague.com and now RLFANS) or now be absolutely infested with flashing ads.

We don't need thousands of active users. But if we can push our active, logged-in users from 100 to 200, I think it would be a thriving eco-system. We then have our lurker friends. After that, we can share our ideas and projects with the larger fanbase through social media and the real world. We can make a real impact.

We just need people motivated to stop by once or twice a day, or a few times a week. Let's reward them with some ideas, theories, insight, laughs, facts, knowledge or just a warm glow. That's why I posted a photo of the LoT logo on a mug. I want it to be part of people's daily rituals. I want people to think of us first when some juicy Titans news breaks.

And now it is super easy to use League of Titans on your phone. So you can be travelling, at work, at the game or at training and check in.

A lot of the things I value or want to do in life circle the community and the best way to unite with people is around sport. Local, regional sport. We are also a team that could potentially become people's favourite #2 team.

I recently had a daughter and she has been the focus of a lot of time. Her arrival has been a revelation about how important all of this stuff we have hung onto over the years is. I want to go all in.

Footy brings people together. Gives families and friends memories and excites passion.

I really care about club and game history, but also education, teaching, disability support, mental health, friendship, active support at games, international dev, etc.

Rugby League, the Gold Coast Titans and League of Titans is a rewarding thing to be a part of.
 
Well said DH and we all appreciate that you back-up those sentiments with action and provide this enclave of sanity (well almost).

The cup looks great but I can’t believe you left “sustainability” of your list of passions :D
 
The club started the forum 20 years ago. We were the official Titans Forum. I was on the original admin team. Another guy called DeeGan showed up out of nowhere and was admin. Weird how he had no online presence previous to that. And disappeared soon after.
 
@Tamwelg aside being a really lovely bloke was a mod from way back. And he did massive work bringing this forum back online in mid 2013 after the … turmoil of the Searle reign. Ok they tried to delete the whole thing. But we backed it up before that.

Tam is massively talented and was very generous with his time. Thanks for always taking the time to listen to me and help me out Tam!

I still remember being at Parklands pace way and him coming up to me and asking if I was DIEHARD from the forum. That was 2008. I think. I was surely wearing a Titans jersey with that on the back.

We’ve gone through some grim times in our short history.

Onwards and upwards
 
For the record, this got me thinking. And I just want to commend DeeGan for ensuring a smooth transition and handing over to me. And also for having the fortitude to decide that it wasn’t for him for whatever reason. He could have limped on but he thought of the big picture.

I’ve been backstabbed so many times over trivial ****. And the game suffers for it. So it’s important to commend good examples. He was a real rugby league man. He was quite mysterious to everyone. But I can confirm I did watch a trial game with him in 2007 down south.

I hope if he ever swings by he can smile and take some pride in his role he played and how far we have come while staying on track.
 
As for me pre-Titans Forum. I was the mod of the dedicated GC bid forum on LeagueUnlimited. And also spent my time waving the flag everywhere online. Of course we didn’t know the club would be called the Titans until the brand launch which came with the website and forum. What an exciting time!
