He’s in a difficult situation not entirely of his own making. As Grant mentioned yesterday, he’s not getting game time in Cup or NRL because he’s being named on the 6 man bench but not used. You reap what you sew.
 
Noone can tell me the Pahulu situation was our fault when he has played 17 mins against us since going there.

He would've played nearly 70+ games here if healthy and been worth way more on the market but threw a tantrem to his form being bad... Our props or middles who play are as well coached as it gets, Going to Storm or any club they think isn't better.

Me rolling up to the Former Titans Thread getting ready to sh*t on Josiah Pahulu for the 150th time.

I think part of his desperate move to the Storm was him getting sucked into this idea that Melbourne are an elite development club, and as a result he’s probably slacked off some and thought Bellamy would carry him to legendary status. Don’t feel sorry for him one bit.

Yep, Would’ve walked into Moe’s #8 jersey, and had been apart of a pretty awesome combo in the middle with Cooper and Tino, then Vili and Bodhi coming through, maybe the best middle rotation in the league in a few years. Very likely a QLD jumper, and would’ve gotten the massive ‘Titans junior extension rates’ on his next deal anyway.

I actually wonder if he regrets his move, he’s probably on less with Melbourne than he was here anyway, and he’s staring down the barrel of some ESL team signing him now hahahaha.

Hopefully a cautionary tale for any young hopeful to maybe prioritise opportunity, and not just tickle the scrote of whichever big club who wants to have you run around in their reserve grade team for years.

Add his girlfriend Sienna.L going to be a club legend here more then likely the way she's going in the girls game.

I get the rush of blood and anger but that's why you need a manager to tell you to chill out and not get emotional when your form massively dipped in your rookie year, Pahulus form fell off a cliff which is normal for a rookie who missed a lot of cup at the time due to a broken leg yet got the opportunity, He got debuted of about 7 games over two years, The club knew he was good and backed him.

Despite all the apparent Des issues, Pahulu was the only player who walked out under him at any level during his tenure, Even Dave F came back with his tail between his legs, Javon left due to a big deal we couldn't come near with Zane.

So **** but happy he's ready to bring it to the light and it's very true the players need to be fully looked after early and scoped out for anything that could go wrong (eg Adam Ritson and his tumor through a ko). This is such a random thing it seems but like he said, 1 in 13 nfl players have it which is alarming numbers.
 
Fully agree with his suggestion and most certainly sympathise with his misfortune. This is every player’s and parent’s nightmare. He was also one of my favorites coming through.

It should also be remembered that “congenital” means at birth and as such, I believe in today’s technological age, the onus of early-age healthcare is on the government. I wonder what early “stops & checks” can be carried out to identify such disabilities.

In Sam’s case, the game accidentally seems to have highlighted his issue and hopefully before it became life-threatening. I am not in anyway suggesting the game should not do more but I feel it’s a broader issue than just contact sports.

Wow that was the type of video by Sam that stops everything when you watch it. I think Sam raises a very important issue and I think the NRL and clubs can certainly do more to help. I do remember Gorden Tallis had stenosis, As Sam says, you can't compare people's situations. But it shows, like @Cowabunga's point about Ritson, that our players can be carrying some ailments and issues that they can get early intervention on and protect their quality of life.

I see a Fox Sports journo has already reached out to him publicly, so hopefully we all hear more about his story.

The former Titans senior staffer at the centre of the NRL’s integrity scandal has applied for the vacant Broncos recruitment job.
Controversial ex-Titans recruitment chief Ezra Howe is among a raft of contenders for one of the most prized gigs in Australian sport – the chief recruitment position at the $98 million Broncos.

It is understood Howe has contacted Broncos officials to express his interest in taking charge of Brisbane’s NRL roster management for their Red Hill revenge mission in 2027.

As revealed by this masthead last month, the Broncos are beefing-up their recruitment department.

Current recruitment boss Simon Scanlan, the man who put together Brisbane’s title-winning roster, is moving into a strategic project role, prompting the Broncos to go to market for a recruiter who will focus specifically on their NRL program.

That has opened the door for Howe, the former long-serving Gold Coast recruitment chief who played a role with Mal Meninga in luring Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and David Fifita to the Titans.

Howe’s interest in a career lifeline at the Broncos follows a Titans integrity saga last year which ultimately cost him a recruitment job at the Perth Bears.

Titans hierarchy lodged a formal complaint with the NRL after alleging Howe was secretly compiling a hit list of possible Bears recruit while still working for the Gold Coast.

The Titans discovered a slew of documents on Howe’s Gold Coast laptop. The list of targets included Titans stars Jayden Campbell and Fa’asuamaleaui.

New Bears coach Meninga was lining up Howe to be Perth’s foundation recruitment chief, but that plan collapsed following the integrity scandal that prompted an NRL investigation.

The NRL owns the Bears licence and could not afford any probity issues with the code’s new 18th franchise. The Titans explored legal action against Howe, but the NRL spiked its investigation and no penalty was issued to Howe.

A former Junior Kiwis coach, Howe has a good understanding of the New Zealand development landscape, one region the Broncos have been actively targeting in recent years.

The Broncos have been inundated with inquiries for the position, but Brisbane bosses are mindful of the organisation’s reputation as a publicly-listed company.

Since Howe’s departure, the Titans have battled a salary-cap crisis, having to offload stars Fifita and tryscoring winger Alofiana Khan-Pereira under new coach Josh Hannay and football boss Scott Sattler.

Others linked to the Broncos recruitment job include Melbourne veteran Paul Bunn, who has previously worked for Brisbane, and Newcastle’s roster guru Peter O’Sullivan.

Brisbane’s new stand-alone recruitment role will ensure the Broncos handle the increasing demands of roster management, talent acquisition, contract negotiations and salary cap strategy.
